Identity in God and Purpose
Raising up children and families who know whose they are — chosen, called, and made for purpose. Programs, mentoring and family support, carried into the communities where they’re hardest to find.
“Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them.”
Takara, Vanuatu · 2006
In 2006 I was twenty-one years old. I had just finished six months of Walkabout DTS 2005 (YWAM - Youth With A Mission), Island Breeze Carbrook, Brisbane Queensland, Australia. I went over for a two-week King’s Kids summer camp in Vanuatu — the islands once known as the New Hebrides before independence.
We were in Takara, a village on the north part of Efate. One afternoon I was walking along the beach toward the local store when I saw a flower bed pressed down into the sand. It was pressed into the shape of Australia. I stopped and thought, wow — that looks like Australia. The shape of the nation.
And then I had a vision that I believe God gave me.
I saw islands. And there was a bridge coming from the islands into the heart of Australia, with people moving back and forward across it. There had been a wall stopping that from happening — a brick wall. But those big metal wrecking balls, the kind they use to demolish high-rise buildings, came and smashed that wall open, and the people moved freely, back and forward.
And everything in that vision was purple.
When God gave me the words Kingdom Kids, I asked, “What is Kingdom Kids?” And He said: my kingdom. I am raising up children. I am raising up families to become kingdom-minded — because His kingdom is what He taught us to pray for. Heaven on earth.
“My kingdom. I am raising up children. I am raising up families to become kingdom-minded.”
Understanding the vision
Every part of what was seen that afternoon in Takara still shapes how this ministry works today.
The Pacific and the Torres Strait. God has not overlooked the islands — Scripture calls them by name and calls them to sing.
Not a one-way road. People moving back and forward — island families and mainland ones each carrying something to the other.
A wall had stood in the way, and it was demolished. Distance, culture, cost, history — God broke it open so His people could move freely.
Everything was purple. Purple speaks of royalty — of God’s authority and dominion, and of a people who belong to Him. Children of the King.
Our heart
Kingdom Kids Ministry runs from Townsville, Queensland, serving families locally and in remote communities. “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” — Matthew 6:10
Structured, values-based sessions where every child is known by name — activities, worship, stories and teaching, grouped by age so each one gets what fits them.
A child grows in a household. We walk alongside parents and whole families, so the home becomes the first place the kingdom is lived out — not just heard about.
One-on-one and small-group mentoring — building confidence, character and leadership, and giving young people something real to carry.
Taking programs into communities where structured support is scarce, including the Northern Peninsula Area of Cape York. Where services don’t reach, we go.
Our programs
Children don’t all need the same thing, so we don’t give them the same thing. Each group has sessions built for where they are.
Ages 0–5
Sensory play, playdough, movement and Bible songs. Gentle, hands-on, and made for little ones with a parent close by.
Ages 6–10
Crafts, games and simple Bible studies. Big energy, plenty of laughing, and truth put in words a child can hold onto.
Ages 11–13
Interactive Bible studies, real discussion and service projects — the age where the questions start, and they deserve honest answers.
Ages 14–18
Topical discussions, volunteering and leadership training. Young people trusted with responsibility, not just kept busy.
